SLANTRANGE P4 Series
The All New 4P Series Sensors
Precision agriculture management and forecasting depend on accurate in-season crop measurements. That’s why ag professionals from research to production trust SlantRange’s patented sensing & analytics systems to deliver data for their most critical decisions. Sub-centimeter measurements are changing the concept of “digital farming”.
The SLANTRANGE 4P+, with more than 3x the resolution of MicaSense RedEdge MX, and more than 5x the resolution of Parrot Sequoia, can measure individual plant size and shape to enable new classes of intelligent analytics.
6 Spectral Bands with True Color RGB
Information value is created through an engineered balance of spatial and spectral resolution with spectral diversity. The 4P Series’ narrow spectral bands isolate key markers of evolving plant health condition while delivering true color RGB for the ever-important value of human visual context.
Accuracy for Prescriptive Inputs & Forecasting
Unless corrected, aerial crop measurement systems will deliver different results as sunlight conditions change – an unacceptable condition for prescription management and forecasting. To solve this, SlantRange pioneered the “Ambient Illumination Sensor”, the on-board sunlight spectrometry technology that ensures accuracy throughout the growing season. The 4P Series, like every SlantRange sensor generation preceding it, delivers fully calibrated spectral imagery as a standard feature.
In-Flight Data with DJI SKYPORT
The new 4P Series sensors include DJI SKYPORT integration as an optional add-on. Ensure the quality of your data collections with in-flight data accessibility via DJI’s Payload SDK.
Improved Accuracy for Advanced Applications - Precision Navigation Module (PNM)
Our all new Precision Navigation Module enables even more accurate measures of plant count, size, and shape for aerial phenotyping and pre-harvest yield applications.
In an industry first, we’ve incorporated a precision navigation solution through a simple modular add-on to our 4P Series sensors to solve one of the most vexing problems in agricultural aerial imaging.
The integrated dual-antenna RTK GPS, LIDAR rangefinder, and extended Kalman filter (EKF) navigation solution measures the sensor position relative to the plant within centimeters, so measurement scale is precise.
Integration Kits for Many Aircraft Options
The 4P Series sensors can be used on virtually any low-altitude aircraft with mounting kits available for most popular systems.
INTELLIGENT AGRICULTURE ANALYTICS with POWERFUL IN-FIELD PROCESSING
Powerful Crop Analytics Made Easy to Use:
New for 2019, we’ve redesigned SlantViewTM from the ground up for easier workflows and batch operations. All while maintaining its first-in-class, rapid, in-field processing and advanced analytics for more accurate, more specific data classes.
Higher Efficiency, Reduced Costs
SlantViewTM innovative processing algorithms require only 20% image overlap (compared to traditional methods which require up to 80%), even when operating in late season row crops. Which means an increase in area coverage rate by 4x. Which reasults in 4x less time and money spent collecting data.
Accuracy in Analytics
Data accuracy extends from the first steps of sensor design through every stage of our analytics toolchain. SlantViewTM is the first agricultural analytics package to isolate crop signals from background soils, weeds, or other residue for more accurate and sensitive results. The Smart FilteringTM and Smart CompressionTM algorithms achieve new levels of data accuracy through selective measurement and asymmetric compression (US Patent 10,217,188).
IMMEDIATE, ON-SITE RESULTS, NO NETWORK NEEDED
The cloud just doesn’t reach everyone, so uploading gigabytes of raw data for processing isn’t always an option. In 2015, we introduced SlantViewTM with the industry’s first low-overlap edge processing solution for immediate results. For you, that means quick, on-site data delivery without the need to return to the office, without the need for internet connection – anywhere in the world.
UNLIMITED PROCESSING, UNLIMITED USERS
SlantViewTM was built with the ag professional in mind. All processing is done on your device so you’re not limited by connectivity or acres. Our plans allow you to process unlimited data no matter how big your farm is. Your SlantViewTM plan is also available to unlimited users.
TOTAL DATA PORTABILITY, EASY TO UNDERSTAND REPORTS
SlantViewTM exports information layers in multiple industry standard formats for easy and seamless combination all of your data sources in your favorite data management tool for a complete field picture. Generate custom PDF reports including images, maps, notes, and annotations.
SlantViewTM also exports full-resolution, fully calibrated reflectance imagery with all of the embedded metadata necessary to build your own maps and conduct your own analysis to allow you to take advantage of the resolution and radiometric accuracy of SlantRange sensors in whatever software platform you choose.
Export formats: GeoTIFF (.tiff), Shapefile (.shp), Google Earth (.kml, .kmz)
VALUABLE MEASURES OF CROP DEVELOPMENT
SlantViewTM builds upon the raw data delivered by SlantRange sensors to produce unique metrics of crop development throughout the growing season.
For many crops, the first few weeks after planting are a critical stage during which plant populations and weed pressures need to be evaluated. SlantViewTM isolates individual plants for analysis to deliver statistics on stand density, plant sizes, and weed pressure.
1) Plant Population
The Plant Population layer provides a true stand count. SlantView’s algorithms detect each plant in the field and segregate them into crop and weed populations for accurate measurement. Populations are indicated in plants per acre to assist with critical replant decisions or to help assess yield potential
2) Emergence Fraction NEW
For crops with very high planting densities (e.g. soybean, wheat), the Emergence Fraction data layer helps assess population. In contrast to the Plant Population layer, Emergence Fraction provides a measure of row gaps.
3) Plant Size NEW
The Plant Size data layer has multiple uses for different crop applications. For broad-acre row crops like corn and cotton, plant size is used to assess crop maturity in the early stages. In specialty produce applications, this layer is used to help estimate yield.
4) Weed Density
SlantView exploits the spectral and spatial characteristics of differing plant classes to detect weed pressure in early-stage row crops. Weed densities are indicated according to the fraction of local field area they cover.
FULL SEASON HEALTH SURVEYS
For crops developing past emergence, SlantViewTM includes multiple data layers that each provide a unique measure of status for growers, for a comprehensive look at evolving conditions.
1) Vegetation Fraction
The Vegetation Fraction layer segments the crop canopy from bare soil or other field residue to measure canopy closure. This layer is valuable for locating mis-planted or thin coverage areas, or for measuring damage from weather or other events.
2) Quad-Band Vegetation Stress
This data layer combines four spectral bands across the visible and near infrared to provide a more sensitive measure of vegetation stress than simple 2-band NDVI. This enables earlier detection of nutrient or pest problems for more effective treatment.
3) Yield Potential
Multiple crop metrics are combined to assess future performance in the Yield Potential layer. This is the producer’s highest level assessment tool and includes the contributions of numerous independent factors that ultimately contribute to yield.
4) Chlorophyll Index NEW
The Chlorophyll Index layer uses algorithms established in academia to estimate the relative chlorophyll content in a crop. This data layer is valuable for tracking chlorophyll content independent of other crop metrics.
5) Multiple NDVI Variants
SlantView also produces traditional vegetation indices including NDVI normalized against green, red, and red edge bands.
USER CUSTOMIZABLE DATA LAYERS WITH SMART DETECTION™
Grower information needs are incredibly diverse, and generic measures such as NDVI maps rarely supply actionable information. In 2016 we introduced an incredibly powerful tool for instantly customizable data layers. Algorithms embedded into SlantViewTM enable signals training and classification for a wide range of specialized capabilities. The potential applications are countless.
• Lodged plant detection
• Soil moisture variability
• Outbreak of a specific weed type
